The Costa Brava and the Pirineu de Girona, the only tourism destination present at the Mercat de Mercats (Market of Markets) Fair in Barcelona.
The second Mercat de Mercats Agro-Food Fair was held from 21st to 23rd October, drawing in 200,000 visitors. This promotional initiative has been conceived by the Municipal Institute of Markets of Barcelona City Council with the goal of enabling Barcelona's citizens and visitors to become more familiar with the city's 39 markets, local quality producers and the world of restaurants and sommeliers.
This year, the Mercat de Mercats Fair has included several new features and improvements, one of which was the active participation of the Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona, taking part for the first time and the only tourist destination present. Its activity was split into four distinct and dynamic spaces showcasing the area's tourism, cultural and wine and gastronomic products:
The Catalan Minister for Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, Food and the Environment, Josep Maria Pelegrí, the Deputy Mayor for Economy, Business and Employment, Sònia Recasens, the City Councillor for Trade, Consumer Affairs and Markets, Raimond Blasi, and the President of Girona Provincial Council and of the Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona, Jaume Torramadé, all visited the Costa Brava and Pirineu de Girona space.
The Patronat de Turisme participated in the fair with the goal of enabling visitors to have a taste of the Girona destination through its products before actually visiting it and to make the fair a starting point for discovering and enjoying the Costa Brava and the Pirineu de Girona through wine tourism.
