International workshops

Following the Patronat's participation in five international workshops, 60 professionals from outbound travel agencies express an interest in the area's tourism products.

The Patronat de Turisme has actively participated in five professional workshops in which it presented and promoted specific products to operators specialising in products such as cultural tourism, active tourism, city breaks, business tourism and wine and gastronomic tourism.

11th October: RailEurope “Train en Europe” Workshop in Zurich, Switzerland, to present and publicise the tourism offer of the Costa Brava in the Swiss market through the rail connection operated by the Elipsos train-hotel company (Pau Casals train-hotel connecting Girona, Figueres and Zurich). The Patronat de Turisme held meetings with six Swiss wholesale travel agencies, including Ron’s Travel and Reisebüro Gauckler. Both expressed an interest in products such as holiday and culture tourism in the destination.

19thOctober: “Destination Dialogue” Workshop in London, UK. The Patronat de Turisme, together with the tourism area of Girona City Council and the Girona Convention Bureau, scheduled a work meeting and dialogue session with 13 travel agents from the High Street London area to present the tourism offer of the Costa Brava destination and to discover at first hand the products and services appreciated by British tourists in the destination. The work session focused on planning future promotional and commercial initiatives in the British market and gaining more detailed information on the needs and expectations of these customers.

26th and 27th October: Specific workshop on snow, active and nature tourism in Porto and Lisbon, Portugal. The Patronat de Turisme took part, together with the La Molina and Vall de Núria ski resorts and the Molineu and Campus Cerdanya hotel and apartment central booking companies, in the product-specific professional meeting organised by the Lisbon office of the Spanish Tourism Office and the Catalan Tourism Agency, aimed at Portuguese travel agents and outbound travel agencies. The Patronat de Turisme made a presentation to some twenty travel agents of the overall offer of products (Girona ski resorts, natural spaces, cultural trails, greenways, hiking, cycle touring, mountain biking, gastronomy, traditions, etc.) and services of the Pirineu de Girona and inland destination.

27th October: Workshop in Milan, Italy, to present and publicise the tourism offer of the Costa Brava in the Italian market through the rail connection operated by the Elipsos train-hotel company (Salvador Dalí train-hotel connecting Girona, Figueres and Milan). The Patronat de Turisme held a meeting with twenty Italian wholesale travel agencies, which was also attended by around twenty Milan-based journalists.
