On Saturday 2nd March a gathering and competition for Instagramers, entitled "Instagram your city - InstaOlot", took place in Olot, as part of the Olotx2 campaign.

This second gathering and competition for Instagramers (users of the free photo-sharing application for Android and Apple mobile devices) organised by the Patronat de Turisme, with the support of Olot City Council, the Garrotxa Tourism Association, the Olot Traders’ Association, the Garrotxa Hotel and Restaurant Association, the Olot Market Stallholders’ Association and the Garrotxa Rural Tourism Association, brought together 50 Instagramers over the course of Saturday morning and midday. The participants were given a guided tour of various landmarks of the city, such as Parc Nou, Eixample Malagrida, Fluvià, Hospici, Sant Esteve and the modernist houses. They also visited the botiga al carrer (stalls set up on the street by shops for one day, with special offers). The final stop of the tour was the Montsacopa volcano.

Using the hashtags #InstaOlot #InPyrenees and #Olotx2, users could participate and follow the activity on the Costa Brava and Pirineu de Girona social networks, as well as through Instagramers Girona.

The prizewinners in the various categories were announced on Monday 4th March on the Instagram channel @costabravapirineu with the hashtag #InstaGirona #InPyrenees. The prizes are stays and meals in Olot.

"Instagram your city" is a new initiative devised by the Patronat de Turisme to publicise and communicate on social networks the tourist attractions of towns in the Costa Brava and Pirineu de Girona destination. Some of towns that have signed up to the initiative are L’Escala, Lloret de Mar and Begur.
