Golf in the Costa Brava
The economic impact of the 2014 Open de España for the Costa Brava is estimated at 1.8 million euros

The 2014 Open de España, held at the PGA Catalunya Resort in Caldes de Malavella from 15 to 18 May, was a success in terms of its organisation, participants and the number of visitors. Figures provided by the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board suggest that the economic impact of holding the week-long competition in the province will be 1.8 million euros, including spending on accommodation, food, car rentals and transport. There are 13 golf courses and 11 pitch and putt courses in Girona province. Eight of these courses market themselves through the Tourist Board’s Golf Marketing Club, together with 42 companies involved in golf and related services.
