French journalists visit the Costa Brava

A press trip for seven journalists from French media outlets, enabling them to explore the special characteristics of the Girona coastline, took place on 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th June.

MARCH 2014

On the occasion of the Centenary of the Costa Brava, seven French journalists were invited to discover the tourism offer of the destination and the initiatives organised to commemorate one hundred years of the Costa Brava name. This press trip came about following the presentation that took place in March of this year at the Banke Hôtel in Paris of the Centenary of the Costa Brava, where 27 journalists attended a dinner organised by the Patronat de Turisme.

For four days, journalists from the Easyvoyage, Vacances et Montagne, Vocable, cultur.fr, First Class Magazine, Pleine vie and Men’s Up media outlets had the chance to discover the area’s tourism offer in terms of accommodation, eating out and products such as culture, health and beauty, golf, greenways, hiking, nautical tourism and other activities related to the Costa Brava. They were also given a presentation of the series of actions being carried out by the Centenary Office this summer to round off the events of the Centenary of the Costa Brava. As such, the journalists visited Lloret de Mar Casino, where the closing ceremony of the Centenary will take place, completed several stretches of the Coastal Footpaths, using the guide recently published by the Patronat de Turisme in collaboration with Triangle Postals as part of the celebrations, and sampled the Centenary Menu in restaurants that have signed up to the menu campaign that began in the spring of 2009.

The purpose of this trip is to present the destination to the journalists so that they will publicise it in a series of articles and reports published and produced by their media outlets once back in France, which is one of the main tourist issuing markets for the destination. This promotional initiative, which is listed in the Action Plan of the Centenary of the Costa Brava for the financial year 2010, aims to foster and position the Costa Brava destination in the main tourist issuing markets for the destination.
