Opening of the exhibition “Costa Brava 21st Century”, a modern-day interpretation of the coastline presented in new multimedia formats: photography, video, projections and performance.
“Costa Brava 21st Century”. This is the title of the exhibition that has opened at the Fontana d’Or venue in Girona on the occasion of the Centenary of the Costa Brava. It is a montage designed by 11 artists using performance, installation and multimedia resources to describe experiences, culture and the transformations of the landscape. As such, it does not look back on the coastline’s 100 years of history but rather it aims to use modern artistic resources to highlight a wide range of aspects that focus on the landscape and its transformation.
Caixa Girona is organising this exhibition inspired by the Costa Brava at the Caixa Girona Exhibition Room in the Fontana d'Or venue in commemoration of the Centenary of the Costa Brava, promoted by the Patronat de Turisme.
The exhibition coordinator, Daniel Giralt-Miracle, has opted for a modern interpretation of the coastline, for which purpose he has employed modern techniques (photography, video and projections, amongst others) in order to bring the experiences and emotions of this coastline to visitors.
The exhibition occupies the basement, ground floor and first floor of the Fontana d’Or venue and combines images, sounds and projections. A total of eleven artists have taken part: Pere Noguera (La Bisbal d'Empordà), Perejaume (Sant Pol de Mar), Ester Partegàs (La Garriga), Mireia Sentís (Barcelona), Jordi Bernadó (Lleida), Eulàlia Valldosera (Vilafranca del Penedès), Montserrat Soto (Barcelona), Mayte Vieta (Blanes), Eugènia Balcells (Barcelona), Mireya Masó (Barcelona) and Tere Recasens (Arbúcies). The exhibition can be visited from 24th July to 4th October.
