The 2014 season opens in the Costa Brava’s ports with the arrival of ten cruise ships and 8.900 passengers

Cruise Tourism Ten cruise ships docked in the Costa Brava’s ports in May. Plaques were presented to the five ships berthing there for the first time. This season, the ports of Palamós and Roses will welcome a total of 47 cruise stopovers and 40,000 passengers. These figures represent an increase of 15% in passenger numbers compared to 2013. The cruise industry will generate tourist revenues of 2.1 million euros for the Costa Brava, according to CLIA Europe. The Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board also took part in the 44th General Assembly of Medcruise, the Mediterranean ports association, and in a workshop with cruise companies. The participants in both events were upbeat about the outlook for the 2015 and 2016 seasons. On 29 May, the Catalan institutions forming the Costa Brava Cruise Ports brand, created to boost cruise tourism to the destination, renewed their cooperation agreement.
