Costa Brava km0 and Pirineu de Girona km0

The new campaign in Barcelona's markets comes to an end, proving a success in terms of visitor numbers and participation.

MARCH 2014

The Costa Brava km0 and Pirineu de Girona km0 promotional campaign got under way at the Boqueria market on 29th and 30th April, featuring special guest Gerard Quintana, lead singer of the Catalan rock group Sopa de Cabra, before travelling to Sagrada Familia market (6th and 7th May), La Concepció market (from 12th to 14th May) and Torreblanca market in Sant Cugat del Vallès (27th and 28th May).

The Costa Brava km0 and Pirineu de Girona km0 tourism, gastronomy and culture promotion activities show consisted of a compartmentalised space in which visitors were able to obtain tourism information on the general tourism offer of the area, participate in gastronomic tastings, purchase local food products (including those used in the tastings) and take part in cultural and sports activities related to the tourism offer of the area. The initiative was designed to enable visitors to experience the destination before setting foot there, serving as a starting point for discovering and enjoying the Costa Brava and the Pirineu de Girona.

Nineteen tourism bodies from the area, including tourism offices, county councils and tourism accommodation associations, are taking part in an initiative aimed at introducing Barcelona citizens to the scenic, cultural, tourism and festive values of the counties of Girona.

The chefs and gastronomes Pep Nogué and Oriol Blanes collaborated in the gastronomic and shop area, together with the gastronomic associations of the Girona area.

By the end of the Costa Brava km0 and Pirineu de Girona km0 campaign a large number of market customers had visited the km0 space to request information on the destination. These requests were quite specific, the most popular being information on greenways and cultural or nautical activities, in addition to accommodation queries. As regards gastronomy, approximately fifty tastings were sold each day. Food products were also sold.
