creuer-costa-brava-cruise-ports Ports de la Generalitat has released data on activities at the Costa Brava’s two ports to receive cruise ships. Of a total of 44 ships, 37 ships docked in Palamós and 7 in Roses, with passengers spending an average of 3 million euros during their stays. The port of Palamós also welcomed a record number of cruise ship passengers, with 40,800, while Roses welcomed 1,500. The ports authorities also stressed the increasingly year-round nature of cruise ship activities, with the season beginning on 26 April and ending on 1 December. The main nationalities of the passengers were British, French, German and North American. 2016 is expected to see the port of Palamós declared as an external Schengen border, which may in turn attract more cruise companies from outside the European Union, bringing economic and social gains to the Girona region.
