A collection of 19 Girona FC captain's armbands will serve to present the team's connections to the territory and publicise among fans and visitors the main tourist attractions of the Costa Brava and the Girona Pyrenees during the LaLiga 2024-2025 season.
For the start of the LaLiga 2024-2025 season, Girona Futbol Club and the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board are joining forces and collaborating on the project for the new captain's armbands that will display iconic illustrations of towns, attractions and events representing the Costa Brava and the Girona Pyrenees during the team's home games in the national competition. The 19 armbands that make up the collection feature the club's coat of arms, the flag and a representative illustration, such as the houses on the River Onyar in Girona or the façade of the Dalí Theatre-Museum in Figueres, among others. In the first match of the competition played at Montilivi Stadium on 29th August against CA Osasuna, the captain of the Girona team wore an armband with the image of the seafront of Calella de Palafrugell. These illustrations have been designed by Patricia Barcenilla, a graphic designer who heads Barce Design.
Previously, as part of the ‘Girona, Champions Territory’ campaign, actions were organised including the commemorative jersey for a historic season, breing tailored to individual municipalities, competitions and raffles, most recently this August featuring a "street marketing" action in which eight emblematic sculptures throughout the Girona region wore the new jersey of Girona FC's first team (The Little Prince on Riells beach in l'Escala, the statue of Ava Gardner in Tossa de Mar, the sculpture commemorating the Defenders of Girona of 1808 and 1809 in the city's Independence Square, the Girl Touching the Water at the lake of Banyoles, the Josep Cabrinetty sculpture in Puigcerdà, the Girl with the Water Jug in Tortellà, the sculpture of Carmen Amaya in Begur and the Monument to the Martyrs of 27th May 1839 in Ripoll).
In the 2024-2025 season, Girona Football Club, a LaLiga and Champions League team, is promoting a series of awareness-raising actions aimed at Girona residents to reinforce their sense of pride and belonging and, at the same time, to raise awareness of the Girona area's natural and scenic attractions among visiting fans.
The Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board will soon be organising new promotional and communication actions with the Girona-based club to promote the destination's sports and tourism offer in Spain and Europe.
