Action Plan for 2019

The plan presented has been drawn up in consensus with the Girona tourism sector as a whole and is designed to offer high-quality products to tourists seeking excellence.


JANUARY 2019

On December 19th over 80 tourism professionals from the region came to Girona for the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board’s presentation of its Plan of Actions and Objectives (PAO) for 2019. During the event, the decision to prolong the designation of the Year of Cultural Tourism throughout 2019 was announced. A report was also made of the most remarkable events and the targets achieved by the entity and the sector in the course of 2018 and there was a presentation of the 20 most important initiatives scheduled for 2019, including the launching and development of the project of the Costa Brava’s candidature as a biosphere reserve for 2020; the deployment of the TastEmotion special showcasing event in Anvers, Amsterdam and Stockholm; the presentation of the destination to professionals and the press in London and Manchester; the Costa Brava Girona Sustainable Trade Week initiative; the Week of the Costa Brava and Girona Pyrenees in the Basque Country; the special promotional media campaign for the French market; the organisation of the Costa Brava Challenge Week for business tourism; the presentation in Israel of nature, active and cultural tourism products belonging to the Pyrenees brand; and involvement in the SIITC (Tourist Intelligence and Information System of Catalonia) project and in the Regional Autonomous Government’s Eurecat technological centre, to name just a few. It was also announced that the main outbound tourism markets to be targeted in 2019 are France and the UK as leading markets, with Germany, Scandinavia, Benelux, the Eastern countries, the United States, the Basque Country and Madrid as priority markets.
