The Costa Brava and Girona Pyrenees showcased their holiday options at the International Tourism Fair of Madrid (Fitur), on Catalonia’s stand, alongside the municipalities of Girona, Lloret de Mar, Blanes and Puigcerdà. In a bid to show the visitors the global holiday options on offer at the destination, the stand focused on new tourist products and services for the 2017 season as well as highlighting the celebration of the Year of Cycling and Sustainability in the province of Girona. Products involving active tourism, cultural tourism and wine and food tourism aroused most interest and proved to be the main attraction with travel professionals and the general public alike. Girona’s representatives networked with airline and railway companies, tour operators, travel websites and media representatives, with the intention of building relationships with them and creating business opportunities and quality leads for the future.
