The 2nd Costa Brava Xtrem running athletics race

For the second year running the Patronat de Turisme sponsors this project that promotes the destination through sport and natural attractions.

MARCH 2014

On 8th April the second Costa Brava Xtrem Running athletics race was presented. The race took place on 23rd, 24th and 25th April along paths belonging to the GR92 and along the coastal footpaths that stretch along the Girona coastline from Blanes to Portbou. There is no competition in the world like it: a mountain race next to the sea.

The event took place in the Romanesque Hall of the Fontana d’Or building in Girona and was attended by Enric Vilert, President of Girona Provincial Council and of the Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona, Xavier Marina and Salvador Larios, head organisers of the race, and the journalist Arcadi Alibés, author of the book Run to be happy. They all agreed that this race promotes the destination through sport and showcases the natural attractions of the area to a wide-ranging public.

The registration period for the second Costa Brava Xtrem Running athletics race was declared open in January and has now closed for the Costa Brava Xtrem and Costa Brava Challenge races. 341 people have signed up from 17 different countries: Belgium, Portugal, Ireland, Australia, Italy, the USA, France, Argentina, Morocco, the UK, Holland, Poland, Lithuania, Trinidad and Tobago, Germany, Andorra and Spain. Runners could sign up for the “Selva Marítima” race until the last minute.
