The Girona tourism sector celebrates at the 2014 G! Awards

The G! Awards for tourism in the province of Girona mark the end of the year with a big party for the tourism sector.

premis1 On 11 December 2014 the ninth edition of the Girona Province G! Awards for Tourism was held, chaired by Artur Mas, President of the Government of Catalonia. The ceremony, held at the Auditori Palau de Congressos in Girona was attended by nearly four hundred people, including dignitaries, award winners, representatives of the tourism and hospitality sectors, and national and international media representatives. G! Awards 2014, list of winners: "9th G! Xiquet Sabater award for business project" presented to Associació Cuina de l’Empordanet. "9th G! Josep Pujol i Aulí award for professionalism" presented to Josep Maria Martín, Costa Brava travel agency sector. "3rd G! Special Jordi Comas i Matamala award" presented to Narcís Coll i Frigola, Costa Brava tourism entrepreneur. "9th G! Girona province award in the written media category" presented to the American journalist Anne Z. Cooke, Tribune Content Agency. "9th G! Girona province award in the audiovisual media category" presented to Pere Puigbert for the documentary Anima Naturae. "9th G! Girona province award in the digital media category" presented to the British journalist Eddi Fiegel for the publication of the Costa Brava Travel Guide on the portal of the Daily Telegraph. "5th Yvette Barbaza award" for the best research work presented to Olga Taravilla and Azahara Cerezo for their proposed project "Geografies del souvenir". A runner-up award was also given for the project "Ruta de les avantguardes: Cadaqués – Tossa de Mar", by Marc Manzano and Xavier Llobet. During the presentation ceremony a special award was also given to Pere Duran, former Director General of the Turisme de Barcelona Consortium, and a speech was given in memory of the late hotelier Climent Guitart. The ninth edition of the G! Awards received support from Girona City Council and la Caixa, and included a performance in tribute to the circus by the Olimpo’s Brothers troupe of acrobats.
