MARCH 2014

The Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona, together with 22 coastal towns from the province of Girona and a series of institutions and private companies are supporting the first race of this kind to be held in Spain in the Centenary year of the Costa Brava with the aim of promoting the destination through sport and the natural attractions of the area, and by bringing together all kinds of people for a competition that is unlike any other in the world.

On 24th, 25th and 26th April, the Costa Brava will host the first Costa Brava Xtrem Running race, which will be run along paths belonging to the GR92 and Girona’s coastal paths from Blanes to Portbou. There is no competition in the world like it: a mountain race next to the sea.

The race is composed of three different routes: The first two are Costa Brava Xtrem, 200 km long, and Costa Brava Challenge, 100 km long. Both start at Blanes and end in Portbou having covered the Costa Brava in different stages. The less demanding third race, “Selva Marítima” is a 20 km run from Blanes to Tossa de Mar. For three days, athletes will have the chance to discover the beauty of the area as the run takes them through charming traditional towns and past wonderful natural beauty spots (coves, rivers, natural parks…).
