European trade fairs

Two promotional events in the Netherlands boost Dutch interest in sun and beach tourism, cultural, nature and active tourism, camping and golf.

SEPTEMBER 2014

The KLM Open took place in Zandvoort, in the Netherlands, from 11 to 14 September. The tournament village offered marketing spaces for golf sector companies and organisations. The Costa Brava and Girona Pyrenees golf marketing club attended to promote Girona province's golfing attractions to golf professionals and tournament spectators, together with the destination's other tourist attractions. Subsequently, from 15 to 20 September, the Dutch city of Utrecht hosted 50PlusBeurs, a marketing fair aimed at senior citizens, which was visited by over 100,000 members of the public. The Tourist Board, the Girona Campsites Association and officials from Castell-Platja d’Aro attended the fair to promote the area's attractions. The Tourist Board met with ten tour operators including Oad Reizen, Treinreiswinkel, Sunliner, Select Voyages and De Jong Intra. The Leisure tourism fair in Moscow provided a key opportunity for marketing the destination, notably through meetings between the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board and Lloret Turisme and five Russian tour operators operating in Catalonia. The fair allowed attendees to investigate and analyse the current state of the Russian tour operator market and identify trends affecting the province of Girona.
