Costa Brava Cruise Ports

Palamós and Roses ports have welcomed 20,000 cruise ship tourists up to August this year

MARCH 2014

This season, Palamós and Roses ports, members of the Costa Brava Cruise Ports brand, are scheduled to receive 43 cruise ship visits, welcoming some 33,000 passengers. This figure represents a real boost to cruise ship activity along the Girona coast, strengthening the Costa Brava as a destination for cruise ship tourists and generating greater economic activity in the area. As of August, the two ports have already welcomed 19,900 cruise ship tourists in 2013.

Furthermore, the cruise ship ports of the Girona area have achieved several milestones that highlight the increase in the number of passengers who have visited over the last five years. In July, Palamós port welcomed its 200,000th passenger, aboard the Thomson Dream cruise ship. In August, and for the first time, two luxury cruise ships, the Crystal Symphony and the Seabourn Quest, coincided in this Empordà port, underlining its commitment to attracting different types of cruise ship tourists and increasing the number of North American tourists.

Roses and Palamós ports are promoted together in the international cruise ship sector through the Costa Brava Cruise Ports brand, the goal of which is to attract new cruise ship operators, strengthen cruise ship lines, retain the loyalty of companies and consolidate the positioning of Palamós and Roses as ports of call. The brand comprises six institutions: The Port Authority of the Government of Catalonia, Palamós Town Council, Roses Town Council, the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board, the Palamós Chamber of Commerce and the Girona Chamber of Commerce.
