Empordà and Costa Brava Campaign

The Catalan Tourism Agency and the Patronat de Turisme undertake a campaign to strengthen the Empordà and Costa Brava destinations

MARZO 2014

A radio campaign to strengthen the Costa Brava and Alt Empordà destinations in the Catalan media, following the fires that affected the Girona area on 22nd, 23rd and 24th July, was undertaken by the Catalan Tourism Agency, with the support of the Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona.

A 25-second radio advert has been broadcast over a two-week period on Catalunya Ràdio, Rac1, Cadena Ser and 40 Principales, encouraging listeners to spend a holiday in the Empordà region, while also highlighting the natural, cultural, gastronomic and activity-related attractions of the county and the Costa Brava.

The campaign by the Patronat de Turisme and the Catalan Tourism Agency within the context of the crisis was focused on informing and making clear to the international press, tour operators and international outbound markets that tourism activity in the destination was carrying on as normal and without interruption despite the fires in Alt Empordà.

On the days following the extinction of the fire, representatives of the Patronat de Turisme carried out visits to tourism accommodation establishments, activity companies and wine cellars etc. in the affected towns in order to assess the current situation, show its support for the Girona tourism sector and study possibilities of assistance.
