50 golf travel agents take part in a useful networking event

The Costa Brava is the first-choice Spanish destination for French golfing tourists and the second-choice destination for British, German and Scandinavian tourists, according to a new study on the profile of the European golf tourist in 2012, carried out by Sports Marketing Surveys and made public during the IGTM (International Golf Travel Market) 2013, held in Salou from 11th to 14th November.

At the IGTM 2013, the Golf Marketing Club of the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board presented the golf offering of the Costa Brava and the Girona Pyrenees to 65 tour operators and 7 international golf journalists at a special presentation dinner in the Lumine restaurant on 14th November. Furthermore, during the event it was announced that the PGA Catalunya Resort golf course in Caldes de Malavella wishes to host the Spanish OPEN for the next three years with the support of the Tourist Board and the Government of Catalonia. Meanwhile, some 50 journalists from the sector visited the Costa Brava on two familiarisation trips and participated in a networking event with 20 business people from the Girona area in order to explore golf courses and clubs, hotels, the local gastronomy and some of the heritage of the destination.
