The five Girona Pyrenees’ ski and mountain resorts end the winter season with nearly 785,104 users, recovering previous levels of attendance and improving on last season’s figures.
In a season marked by heavy snowfall and favourable weather ―particularly between January and March―, the excellent slope conditions and snow depth meant that the ski and mountain resorts once again served as a key economic driver in the Catalan Pyrenees.
Masella ski resort welcomed 330,765 skiers over the 139 days it was open, including 18 nights of night skiing. It was also the Catalan resort with the highest number of uninterrupted operating days during the winter season. The three ski and mountain resorts operated by Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat ―La Molina, Vall de Núria and Vallter― attracted a total of 446,539 visitors and recorded 134 days of activity, from 6 December through to Easter: La Molina with 279,859 visitors, Vall de Núria with 102,008 visitors and Vallter with 64,942 visitors. As for Guils Fontanera, it received 7,800 visitors, of whom 4,500 purchased ski passes. This year, the nordic ski resort was open 114 days and the number of visitors increased 50 % from the previous season.
Once the ski season concluded, the mountain resorts in Girona ―Vall de Núria, La Molina and Vallter― unveiled their spring and summer offerings as part of the Pirineu 365 project, aiming to promote outdoor and high-mountain activities for all audiences. At Masella, the sports and leisure options continue with activities organised by Alp and the Abrigall Hostel.
