World Tourism Day

The Girona tourism sector celebrates the World Tourism Day with a meeting in the Castle of Biart de Masarac on the 28th September, bringing together representatives of various bodies and companies of the tourism industry.

On 28th September the celebrations of the sixth World Tourism Day were held at the Castle of Biart de Masarac (Alt Empordà), bringing together the top representatives of bodies and companies of the Catalan tourism sector.

The Catalan Minister for Innovation, Universities and Enterprise, Josep Huguet, the President of the Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona, Enric Vilert, and the President of the Hotel and Catering Federation of the Counties of Girona, Antoni Escudero, were amongst the 400 attendees at the World Tourism Day events.

Several celebratory events were held over the course of the day, including performances of sardana music and havaneres (colonial sea shanties), tasting sessions of Girona dishes and products, organised by seven hotel and catering associations from the area, and a series of speeches.
