Tourism promotion in the French market

Costa Brava and Pirineu de Girona Tourism and Gastronomy Fair in Toulouse from 14th to 16th May.

From 14th to 16th May, the Costa Brava and Pirineu de Girona Tourism and Gastronomy Fair was held in Toulouse (Rue Alsace Lorraine). This fair, aimed at the general public, forms part of the tourism promotion campaign being run by the Catalan Government in the French Midi Pyrénées region from 23rd April to 31st May.

The Girona organisations and tourism companies taking part in this event were: Blanes Tourism Office, Lloret Tourism, Tossa de Mar Tourism Office, Figueres Tourism Office, L’Escala–Empúries Tourism Office, Roses Tourism Office and Girona Tourism Office, along with the county councils of Alt Empordà, La Selva, El Ripollès, El Pla de l’Estany, El Gironès, Garrotxa Tourism and the Girona Rural Tourism Association. Meanwhile, a range of gastronomic organisations also took part, including Cuina de Remença (Peasant Cuisine) of the Vall d’en Bas, Cuina Volcànica (Volcanic Cuisine), Cuina Jueva de Besalú (Jewish Cuisine of Besalú), La Cuina del Vent (Cuisine of the Wind), the Gastronomy Club of El Gironès and Anxoves de l’Escala (Anchovies from L’Escala).

For three days, the Girona tourism and gastronomy information stands at the fair provided visitors with tourism information and offered gastronomic tasting sessions. The fair opening took place on 14th May at 12 noon and was attended by Dolors Batallé, Director of the Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona, along with several representatives of the Catalan and French tourism sectors.

Prior to the fair, on 28th April, the Patronat took part in a workshop on active tourism that gave Girona tourism professionals the chance to sell their products to French tour operators.
