Strong presence of the Costa Brava and the Pirineu de Girona at the SITC

The Patronat is participating in the SITC (International Tourism Show of Catalonia) with a 280 m2 stand together with 20 organisations and companies from the Girona area. On the occasion of the Centenary, it also has a 55 m2 space dedicated exclusively to the Costa Brava.

This 43,000 m2 hall houses more than 1,500 exhibitors from 75 countries, including companies directly linked to the sector (travel agencies and tourism accommodation companies) and those with indirect links (transport companies). The Patronat de Turisme is taking part with an open and modular stand (the same one used at the Navartur Fair in Pamplona and at the Sevatur Fair in San Sebastian) which displays images of the area’s attractions and products.

This space is located in pavilion 2 of the trade fair site (F-605) and occupies a surface area of 280 m2, housing 20 Girona-based organisations and companies with counters displaying their products, offers and services. The participants from Girona at the SITC are: the Blanes Tourism Office, Lloret Turisme, the Tossa de Mar Tourism Office, the Girona Tourism Office, the L’Escala–Empúries Tourism Office, the Banyoles Tourism Office, the Castelló d’Empúries-Empuriabrava Tourism Office, the County Council of Baix Empordà, the County Council of Alt Empordà, the County Council of Pla de l’Estany and the County Council of El Gironès. La Selva, la comarca de l’aigua (the water county), Turisme Garrotxa, County Council of El Ripollès, Vall de Núria, County Council of La Cerdanya, La Molina, Costa Brava Verd Hotels, Interpals Campsite, Vall d’Aro Campsite, Costa Brava Pirineu de Girona Golf Club, Costa Brava Nautical Tourism Club, Costa Brava and Pirineu de Girona Health and Beauty Club and the Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona.

The Costa Brava Pirineu de Girona space will provide information and promotional material on the tourism offer of the area, as well as products such as culture, health and beauty, golf, greenways, trekking, nautical tourism, gastronomy, skiing, etc. There will also be specific documentation available for tourism sector professionals who wish to receive more specific information on services and companies in the counties of Girona with which to make contact and sell products.

In order to familiarise visitors to the fair with the foods, beverages and craft products of the area, a series of activities have been scheduled in the hall aimed at capturing the interest of attendees, who have the chance to taste local produce from the counties of Girona and see an exhibition of craft products from the area. The tasting sessions are organised by a range of institutions and organisations such as Cuina Volcànica or La Selva, la comarca de l’aigua, and the county councils of Alt Empordà and Baix Empordà. The 2008 SITC was visited by some 204,000 people.
