Familiarisation and press trips

50 journalists and six travel agents take part in 16 different promotional initiatives

MARCH 2014

The Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board organised 16 visit and activity programmes in May for media outlets and travel agents in order to showcase the destinations in the Girona area and their tourism offering. Highlights included the 14 press trips organised for 50 journalists representing various media outlets from Catalonia (such as the newspaper Ara, the magazine Més Osona, the newspaper Nació Digital, Manresainfo, or the Taelus group), Madrid (TVE, conmuchagula.com, Maridaje gourmet y más, Euromundo Global and radio, etc.), France (Le Parisien, Lonely Planet, Le Guide du Routard, Plurielles, Passion Magazine, The Different Magazine, Vital, Version Femina, Télérama, Top Santé), Ireland (Business & Finance, Travel Extra Magazine, Irish Daily Mirror and Irish Tatler), Germany (Geniessen & Reisen), the USA (Outside Magazine, Runners World), and China.

In addition to these press trips, two familiarisation trips were organised with the goal of showcasing the destination, along with tourist accommodation and activities companies, to tour operators from Germany, which sent representatives to the destination to visit golf courses, wine cellars, restaurants and sports activities.

These promotional initiatives aimed at journalists, influencers and travel agents enjoy the support and collaboration of the Catalan Tourism Agency, the tourism departments of the county councils of the Girona area, the members of the various product marketing clubs of the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board and several companies and professionals of the local tourism sector.
