Costa Brava San Miguel Gastronomic Tour

The Costa Brava San Miguel Gastronomic Tour and the Costa Brava 2010 festive and gastronomic summer guide are presented in Girona as part of the Centenary celebrations.

MARCH 2014

As part of the Centenary celebrations, the Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona has created this new tourism product that combines various Costa Brava festivals with the matching of beer to great cuisine.

On 27th April, the cloister courtyard of the Girona Provincial Council building was the chosen venue for the presentation of the Costa Brava San Miguel Gastronomic Tour and the Costa Brava 2010 festive and gastronomic summer guide. The event was presided over by Enric Vilert, President of Girona Provincial Council and of the Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona, Anna Pagans, Mayor of Girona, Javier Pérez Farguell, Managing director of San Miguel and Carme Polo, Head of the Office of the Centenary of the Costa Brava. It was also attended by representatives of the restaurants taking part in the Centenary Menu initiative, the mayors and tourism councillors of the 22 towns of the Costa Brava, and the organisers of the festivals included along the Gastronomic Tour route.

The event also featured the presentation of a new publication that accompanies the Gastronomic Tour, the Costa Brava 2010 festive and gastronomic summer guide, which describes the festivals included along the Tour route, as well as other noteworthy cultural and festive events that are representative of the Costa Brava. The guide has a print run of 11,000 copies and has been published in four languages (Catalan, Spanish, English and French).

The event concluded with the tasting of three dishes: escalivada (peeled and grilled aubergine) with anchovies, sweet botifarra sausage with apple, and cod brandade with beer. The dishes were prepared by chef Oriol Blanes of the Empordà Gastronomic School and were served with San Miguel beer.

Through this new promotional action, which takes the matching of beer and good cuisine and places it in the unique setting of the popular, traditional and important fairs and events that take place in Costa Brava towns, the Patronat de Turisme and the San Miguel beer company have joined forces to promote one of the most representative and established values of the Costa Brava.
