October has been an extremely busy month for the Patronat de Turisme in terms of promotional and communication activity aimed at tourism professionals and end users. A powerful promotional initiative in the Russian market has kick-started the initiatives scheduled to be implemented in Eastern European countries over the rest of 2011 and especially in 2012. Our activity has focused on promoting specific products in Central European markets among tour operators specialising in culture, active tourism, city breaks, business tourism and wine and gastronomic tourism. Particular highlights have included the Patronat's participation in the Mercat de Mercats (Market of Markets) Fair in Barcelona and the promotion of wine tourism in the area, including the Rutas del Vino de España (Wine Routes of Spain) project, among other activities. As regards Tourism 2.0, the Patronat de Turisme has held its eighth training day, entitled "Innovation in tourism companies: structuring, communication and marketing", and has organised two specific blogtrips, one in the Pirineu de Girona and a Health and Beauty theme-based trip.
