WTM 2012

The Patronat receives an award from Selling Long Haulmagazine at the WTM for its Discover Costa Brava Girona online training course.

MARCH 2014

The Patronat de Turisme took part in the 33rd World Travel Market in London from 5th to 8th November as part of the Catalonia stand.

At this international professional fair, open to the public, the Patronat de Turisme presented the general tourism offering of the Costa Brava and Pirineu de Girona to British tourism sector professionals. It promoted tourism products including golf, nautical activities, culture, greenways, gastronomy and cruise travel, etc. The Patronat de Turisme took part together with the towns of Castell-Platja d’Aro, Lloret de Mar and Blanes, along with several tourism companies from the area, such as Bravasol Viatges, Viatges Traveltec, Evenia Hotels and Traditional Tours.

The fair is one of Europe's most important events for bringing together offer and demand in the tourism sector. As such, over the course of the three days of the fair, the Patronat de Turisme held meetings with ten representatives of wholesale travels agencies, including TUI, Reisrevue, Inntravel, Guest Incoming and Frontier Holidays, and also dealt with requests for information by visitors to the stand.

During the fair, the Patronat de Turisme received an award from the magazine Selling Long Haul, a professional publication aimed at the wholesale and retail travel agency sector in Great Britain and Ireland. The award was given for its online training course on the Costa Brava and Pirineu de Girona destination, entitled Discover Costa Brava Girona, which has been used to train travel agents (front office) in Britain and Ireland for the last five years. The course received an award in the Short haul Travel Uni training programme of the year category.

Over the last five years, the Patronat de Turisme has trained 953 travel agents in Great Britain through its Discover Costa Brava Girona online training course, which will soon be updated and improved.
