WordPress II training workshop

The Patronat de Turisme holds the level two WordPress workshop, attended by 27 professionals from the Girona tourism sector.

MARCH 2014

On the back of the two popular Web 2.0 workshops held on 17th and 31st March by the Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona, focusing on "Setting up a website using WordPress", which were attended by 80 professionals from the tourism sector, the Patronat de Turisme held a new workshop entitled WordPress II.

This workshop, held in the auditorium of the Jaume Casademont building (in the Science and Technology Park of the University of Girona) and led by Montse Peñarroya, Director of GEA Internet Project Consulting and an expert in tourism and Web 2.0, took a more in-depth look at the website creation tools of the WordPress content management system. The workshop showed how to optimise WordPress to ensure faultless indexing in Google, how to improve SEO when drafting the page contents of the website itself, how to install Google Analytics monitoring codes in WordPress and how to set targets. Furthermore, it reviewed how to incorporate and edit videos, images and themes, as well as how to install plugins for social networks, professional contact forms or weather forecasts, among other elements.

Holding training courses forms part of the strategy of the Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona to foster the continuous training of tourism sector professionals in the Web 2.0 field and to increase the competitiveness of Girona's tourism industry so that it has the necessary tools to maintain its standing as leading international tourism destination.
