Tourism promotion in Germany and France

Now that the summer season has ended, the Patronat de Turisme is focusing once again on the promotion of the destination abroad, attending the Tour Natur fair in Düsseldorf, Germany, and the Envie de Catalogne promotional event in the French city of Lyon.

MARCH 2014

The Tour Natur tourism fair, mainly specialised in hiking and cycle touring, but also featuring active tourism destinations and products, took place in Düsseldorf from 3rd to 5th September. The tourism offer of the Costa Brava and Pirineu de Girona brands, together with the Rural Tourism Association of Girona, were present at the international fair in the space allocated to Catalonia at the Wandermagazin magazine stand.

The German visitors to the Costa Brava or Pirineu de Girona space at Tour Natur were generally repeat visitors already familiar with the counties of Girona. They mostly requested information on hiking and cycle touring trails, as well as on rural accommodation, campsites and hotels.

Meanwhile, on 3rd and 4th September, the Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona, representing the tourism offer of the counties of Girona and promoting the events of the Centenary of the Costa Brava, took part in the Envie de Catalogne promotional event held by the Catalan Tourism Agency in the French city of Lyon on the occasion of the “Year of Catalonia in France 2010-2011”.

A space designed especially for the tourism promotion of the geography and heritage of Catalonia was placed for two days in the central location of Place de la République / Rue de la République. In addition to the Patronat de Turisme, the town of Calonge-Sant Antoni de Calonge and the tourism office of Vall d’en Bas presented their tourism offer in the space.

A series of traditional Catalan entertainments took place at the venue and tastings were offered of Catalan cuisine, including a tasting of Norway lobsters, organised by the tourism office of Calonge-Sant Antoni, and a tasting of cured sausages from La Garrotxa, organised by the tourism office of Vall d’en Bas.
