Tourism fairs

The tourism, food and wine, and cultural offer of the Costa Brava and the Pirineu de Girona have been presented at a promotional event in Bordeaux in France and at Expovacaciones, the Basque tourism fair in Bilbao, with the goal of promoting the destination directly and interactively in nearby outbound tourism markets.

MARCH 2014

Specifically, from 10th to 13th May, the general tourism offer of the Costa Brava and the Pirineu de Girona was presented at the 33rd Expovacaciones Fair in Bilbao, in the Basque Country, sharing the Catalonia stand with various towns and organisations from the Girona area. The towns of Roses, L’Escala-Empúries, Castell- Platja d’Aro, Blanes and Vall d’en Bas, along with the Tourism Association of Palafrugell, the Nautical Resorts Association of Catalonia, the Petits Grans Hotels de Catalunya independent hotel association and the Association of Campsites of Girona were all represented at the event, which welcomes more than 240,000 visitors every year.

The tourism offer of the Girona destination was also promoted at the Village Catalan promotional event in Bordeaux from 11th to 13th May, an initiative of the Catalan Tourism Agency aimed at strengthening the promotion of Catalan destinations in France, the main outbound tourism market for Catalan destinations.

The gastronomic and cultural event was held in Place Saint Projet and Place Camille Jullian, where tourism information points were placed, and mainly involved gastronomic tastings (products from La Cerdanya), and music and folk performances (singing of havaneres -colonial sea shanties- and sardana dancing).
