Tourism fairs

The Polish, Italian and French tourism markets demand specific products

MARCH 2014

The Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board participated in two international fairs for tourism professionals held simultaneously from 17th to 19th October, namely the Tour Salon 2013 in Poznan (Poland) and the Fiera TTG Incontri in Rimini (Italy), where it presented the tourism offering of the Costa Brava and the Pirineu de Girona to tour operators from Poland (Ecco Holiday, Mediterranean and Ski Active) and Italy (Alpitour Spa, In Viaggi SRL, King Holidays and Press Tours).

Taking part for the first time in the TTG fair in Rimini, as part of the Catalonia stand, the Tourist Board aimed to make contact with wholesale travel agencies. On the basis of the initial meetings held at the fair, the Italian agents expressed an interest in the cultural products of the Girona area with a view to marketing them for seniors and religious tourists.

The Tourist Board was taking part in the Tour Salon in Poland for the second time, where it aimed to make contact with tour operators interested in promoting the Costa Brava. A meeting was held with the tour operator Ecco Holiday, which currently includes the destination as part of its summer schedule with the focus on active tourism and beach holidays. It plans to offer holidays in the low season geared towards culture or health and wellness.

The Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board and the ports of the Costa Brava participated in the Cap d’Agde Boat and Yacht Show, held in France’s Languedoc-Roussillon region from 30th October to 3rd November, where they promoted the tourism assets and products of the Costa Brava destination, along with the tenth Escalagde, a 90 mile coastal regatta from Cap d’Agde in France to L’Escala on the Costa Brava. This fair also served to strengthen personal and professional relations between these neighbouring and historically close regions: Girona-Costa Brava and Languedoc-Roussillon (Le Cap d’Agde).
