The Nessun Dorma flies the flag for the Costa Brava

The Nessun Dorma yacht begins its round-the-world voyage for charity from Roses Port, sponsored by the Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona.

MARCH 2014

On 23rd June, the eve of Saint John’s Day, it set off from Roses Port to begin a round-the-world charity voyage, covering the Mediterranean in this initial stage before starting its crossing of the Atlantic Ocean in September.

What makes the project special is that the Nessun Dorma has been designed at the Pita Yachts shipyard in Pau for people with reduced mobility, making it a beacon of accessible tourism. It is been built in its entirety on the Costa Brava.

The Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona is sponsoring this initiative as part of the commemoration of the Centenary of the Costa Brava and a large Centenary logo is featured on the yacht’s gennaker (the sail at the bow). It does so with two goals in mind: on the one hand, to raise the profile of the Costa Brava as a tourist destination all over the world and, on the other hand, to publicise the destination’s accessible tourism offer, of which the Nessun Dorma is a shining example.

Through this promotional action, the values that make the Costa Brava unique will reach New Zealand, Australia, Africa and South America. Furthermore, the commitment to more accessible tourism, which is among the objectives of the Patronat de Turisme for the coming years, will become tangible through this initiative.
