The Patronat de Turisme has a budget of €5,012,021 to implement its 2010 action plan.

MARCH 2014

The Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona has a budget of €5,012,021 euros to finance and carry out the actions and projects included in its 2010 action plan. The main target markets for the promotional actions of the Patronat are local markets (Catalonia and the rest of Spain) and European markets (France, the UK, Germany and the Benelux countries). The actions are aimed at both end customers and intermediaries with the goal of promoting the destination’s offer and the tourist products of the Costa Brava and Pirineu de Girona brands in order to bring visitors to the area.

The list of actions to be executed includes attending nineteen tourism fairs, mainly in countries such as Germany, France, the UK and Spain, in which the full tourism offer of the Costa Brava and the Pirineu de Girona will be promoted. The Patronat will be present at Fitur in Madrid, ITB in Berlin, WTM in London, SITC in Barcelona and Navartur in Navarre, among others. It will also attend fairs to promote specific products such as nautical tourism (Salon Nautique in Paris) and active tourism (Tournatour in Düsseldorf and Salon Mahana in Toulouse).

The actions aimed at distribution channels include the organisation of familiarisation trips and workshops for travel agents and tour operators on the destination in general and on specific products such as active tourism (hiking, cycle tourism, waterskiing) and culture, among others. The organisation of press trips for journalists from Spain and other parts of Europe is aimed at boosting publicity and making the Girona destination and its tourist products known by means of tourism articles and reports. The articles produced by journalists following their visit to the area will focus on health and beauty, golf, active tourism, gastronomy and the destination in general.

The Patronat de Turisme is also scheduling events related to the Centenary of the Costa Brava. These include the gastronomic tour, actions for raising the international profile of the event, and the closing ceremony, scheduled to take place in September 2010. Within Catalonia itself the 5th G! Awards will be held, including the new Yvette Barbaza Award for Research. Meanwhile, the Girona Viva fair will be held in the spring in Madrid. Apart from its own initiatives, the Patronat will support other events including the 2nd Costa Brava Xtrem Running race, the Windsurfing World Championship or More Golf to Costa Brava Catalonia.

New technologies will continue to play an important role in 2010, with Web 2.0 actions aimed at increasing the destination’s presence on social networks like Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and YouTube. The official website of the Costa Brava and the Pirineu de Girona will incorporate new services for users and will update content as it adapts to new trends and meets the needs of the tourist market.

Meanwhile, actions will also be carried out to back local tourism promotion organisations, such as offering support in gastronomic campaigns and the publication of leaflets, supporting county councils and public/private sector bodies through sponsorship, training and sharing of knowledge through organising and taking part in conference days.
