The Centenary is involved in several events

In the summer, the towns of the Costa Brava are buzzing with activity. Fairs, sports activities and shows are organised. This year, many of them have wished to be associated with the Centenary. The Patronat has taken this opportunity to promote the Centenary.

The Centenary of the Costa Brava has been publicised in several cultural, sporting and gastronomic events taking place in August on the Costa Brava. At the Wine Fair of Catalonia, held in Pals on 14th, 15th and 16th August, the Patronat de Turisme took the opportunity to promote the Centenary Wines amongst visitors (criança vintage red wine, Cadac by the Martí Faixó winery; young white wine, Floresta 2008 by the Pere Guardiola Winery; and Garnatxa Gran Reserva by the Espolla Cooperative winery). The Patronat also distributed promotional material on the Costa Brava brand. Furthermore, the 9th Catalan Cheese Tasting was held as a parallel activity.

Almost 60 boats took part in the Costa Brava Centenary Regatta and the 7th Unicef Regatta on 15th August, organised in Port d’Aro on the occasion of the Centenary of the Costa Brava. At the end of the competition, the Patronat de Turisme awarded the director of Port d’Aro Nautical Club with the Centenary Trophy.

The 33rd Costa Brava Football Trophy match was played on 22nd August at Montilivi Stadium in Girona between Girona FC and RCD Espanyol. The Costa Brava Trophy is a summer tournament organised by Girona Football Club with the support of Girona Provincial Council and the Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona. The Costa Brava brand and the Centenary were publicised on advertising hoardings placed around the pitch perimeter. The match was broadcast live on Canal TV3. The winner was RCD Espanyol.

The Centenary of the Costa Brava was also promoted in Tossa de Mar on the special day organised by the city's traders in commemoration of the Centenary. On 22nd August a dance performance took place on the beach which was bedecked with 3 metre tall “sails” emblazoned with the Centenary logo. 8 days later, on 30th August, the awards ceremony of the 53rd Tossa de Mar International Fast Painting Contest will take place. The commemorative trophy of the Centenary will be a great memento for the artist who gains the jury’s approval for his/her creation of a canvas featuring different spots and scenery of Tossa de Mar.

With the support of the Patronat de Turisme, the Centenary of the Costa Brava also features at the Mediterranean Week of Responsible Recreational Fishing, held in Roses from 28th August to 6th September. This special week includes the Mediterranean Challenge catch and release competition (Desafío Mediterráneo). The Costa Brava brand and the Centenary will be promoted at the competition meeting point and through the media covering the championship.
