Nine specialised bloggers generate 8 million impressions in social networks in a week

MARCH 2014

Continuing with its strategy for the dissemination and promotion of the Costa Brava and Pirineu de Girona destination in social networks, from 24th to 30th September the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board organised the first blogging trip in the Girona area focused on food and wine activities. Key online influencers and opinion leaders took part in the trip, such as Michael Hodson (USA), of the GoSeeWrite website; Ayngelina Brogan (Canada), who runs the Bacon is Magic website, which receives 30,000 visits per month; Ryan King (UK), of the prestigious Fine Dining Lovers website, which has 54,000 followers on Facebook; Sara Porro (Italy), of the Dissapore website, which receives 950,000 visits per month, and Fabien Lainé (Norway), who runs the Vin Deling website. Also present were Ryan Opaz, of the Catavino website, with 50,344 followers on Twitter, and Joan Gómez, of the DeVinis website.

These leading international travel bloggers will generate content of interest in the social networks in which they operate. It is estimated that over 8 million user impressions were generated in a week.

The blogging trip was designed to offer the participants the chance to experience several food and wine activities specific to the area: a visit to the restaurant El Celler de Can Roca and the exhibition El somni (The Dream), put together by Jordi Roca and Francesc Aleu; a dinner concert in Girona’s Call (Jewish Quarter); a cooking class in La Fageda d’en Jordà (Garrotxa) with the chef Pep Nogué; a tour of Empordà wineries, all members of the DO Empordà Wine Route Club: La Vinyeta, Finca Bell-lloch and Coll de Roses, where they participated in a traditional wine harvest; a tour of the Hotel Peralada Wine Spa & Golf complex; a sea kayaking trip in Cap de Creus, followed by a wine tasting on Colera beach; and meals in enotecas, fishing shacks and restaurants offering traditional and avant-garde Catalan cuisine, such as the Miramar in Llançà, Compartir in Cadaqués and Vicus in Pals. They also sampled cultural and sporting activities.

For this initiative the Tourist Board enjoyed the support and direct collaboration of private companies of the Girona tourism sector, local councils, county councils and the Catalan Tourism Agency.
