#SelfieYourCity Online Campaign

137 spaces in 45 municipalities, photographed by 249 Instagram users, generating over 1,200 photographs.

selfie-guixols Designed to reflect the growing trend for selfies on social media, the #SelfieYourCity competition developed initiatives linked to Instagram. Launched by the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board, contributions were made from local administrations and tourism marketing bodies for the Girona region, including some 40 councils, with support also provided by the Girona and Descobreix Catalunya Instagram communities. With a duration of six months and participation from 45 Girona municipalities, 249 Instagrammers produced over 1,200 photographs seen by 228,385 users and achieving 42,446 likes. Each municipality participating in the Instagram campaign selected three photogenic locations, as well as a winner for each of them, awarding prizes such as hotel stays, product bundles, tourist activities, guided tours, restaurant meals and admission tickets, etc. The campaign helped foster the creation of contents on social media, as well as to promote spaces and destinations in the Girona region.
