Seatrade Cruise Shipping 2013

The Costa Brava Cruise Ports brand makes its début at the world's leading international forum for cruise travel.

MARCH 2014

From 11th to 14th March, the Government of Catalonia, through its Port Authority, the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board of Girona Provincial Council, the town councils of Palamós and Roses, the chambers of commerce of Girona and Palamós, and the Call de Girona Municipal Board took part in the leading international convention for the cruise travel sector, Seatrade Cruise Shipping, in Miami (USA), a gathering of the main players in the cruise travel industry, port authorities, travel agents and tour operators, with the goal of promoting cruise travel activity in Catalan ports.

The Costa Brava Cruise Ports brand was showcased to cruise travel professionals through presentations, meetings and specific materials, such as a promotional brochure, the www.costabravacruiseports.com website and a promotional video with aerial images of the Costa Brava. The breakfast organised by the Spanish Tourism Office in Miami was an ideal opportunity for making useful contacts with shipping companies such as Silversea, Azamara Club Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line and Regent Seven Seas, among others.

Importantly, the Catalan-Girona delegation met managers of Oceania Cruises at the company's Miami offices to present the technical data of the two ports that form part of the Costa Brava Cruise Ports brand, along with the tourism offering and services of the Costa Brava and Pirineu de Girona. As a result of the meeting, Oceania representatives expressed an interest in the ports of Palamós and Roses, mainly due to the golf and gastronomy products available in the Girona area, and stated that they would look into the possibility of including this offering as an alternative route to the ports of call currently used by the company in the Mediterranean.

Furthermore, two companies that target the exclusive and luxury end of the market, The World and Silversea, have announced that the Costa Brava will be among their ports of call for the 2014 season.
