Russia Roadshow

550 travel agents of the Russian tour operator TUI attend the presentations.

MARCH 2014

From 11th to 18th February the Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona and Lloret Turisme took a roadshow to four Russia cities, where they promoted and marketed the tourism offering of the Costa Brava in five presentations attended by a total of 550 travel agents of the Russian tour operator TUI.

The roadshow visited the capital, Moscow, and the neighbouring cities of Vladimir, Ivanovo and Yaroslavl with the goal of informing travel agents at first hand of the products of the Costa Brava destination offered to TUI's customers in its brochure for the 2013 season. The tour operator's Spain brochure currently offers ten hotel establishments in the towns of Blanes, Lloret de Mar and Tossa de Mar, along with organised day trips around the area.

At the same time as the TUI roadshow in Russia, from 14th to 17th February, the Golden Dolphin Dive Show took place in Moscow, a fair specialising in scuba diving. The Patronat de Turisme attended the show for the first time at the request of the Nature and Active Tourism product marketing club.

According to the Catalan Tourism Agency and the leading Russian tour operators that operate in Catalan destinations (Natalie Tours, Terramar Travel, Tez Tour, Coral Travel and Pegas Touristik), the tourism from the outbound markets of the Russian Federation (Russia, Ukraine and Belarus) is set to increase by 40% in respect of the previous year. If this trend is confirmed, 1.1 million Russian tourists may have visited Catalonia by the end of the year, surpassing the 2012 figure of 700,000.
