Promotion in Israel

Israeli tour operators and communications media are attracted by the tourism on offer in the Costa Brava and Girona Pyrenees.

FEBRUARY 2018

On the 5th, 6th and 7th of February, tourism in the Costa Brava and Girona Pyrenees was promoted in Tel-Aviv (Israel) with eighteen specialised travel reporters and members of the public visiting the country’s most important travel show, the IMTM. Catalonia’s stand was also used to promote tourism, cultural attractions and nature activities, under the Pyrenees brand, among visiting professionals and end consumers. Visitors to the travel show were interested in information about routes in protected natural parks and areas, as well as the Jewish heritage in towns such as Girona, Besalú and Castelló d’Empúries. According to figures provided by the Catalan Tourist Board, Catalonia is the prime destination in Spain in terms of inbound Israeli tourists, with a total of 184,200 visitors in 2016. Israeli tourists each spend an average of €314 per day (almost twice as much as the average international tourist) and €1,252.30 per stay in Catalonia.
