MICE tourism alliances

The Girona Convention Bureau holds bilateral meetings with the Catalan Association of Conference Organising Companies and the Barcelona Convention Bureau.

MARCH 2014

With the integration of the Girona Convention Bureau (GCB) within the Patronat de Turisme as a new product marketing club, two meetings have been held with representatives of the Catalan Association of Conference Organising Companies and the Barcelona Convention Bureau, BCB, respectively, with the goal of reaching collaboration agreements and forging alliances for bringing together the offer and demand of the sector and increasing the number of conference events held in Girona and on the Costa Brava in 2013.

As a result of the meeting held between the Girona Convention Bureau (GCB) and the Catalan Association of Conference Organising Companies, an agreement in principle was reached to undertake an initiative in the destination aimed at the Catalan market, which will consist of bringing together members of the GCB and influencers who can attract new conferences to the area in order to exchange views.

In the meeting held between the Girona Convention Bureau (GCB) and the Barcelona Convention Bureau it was agreed that the GCB would work towards attracting conference events by making the most of the Barcelona Convention Bureau's high profile in the MICE market.

On 14th and 15th February, the Girona Convention Bureau is taking part in a workshop in the French city of Marseilles, together with the Lloret Convention Bureau, Evenia Hotels, Hotel Santa Marta, the Costa Brava Conference Centre, Sallés Hotels, the Girona Conference Centre and Melià Golf Vichy Catalán, in which each Girona-based company has 20 meetings scheduled with French companies and event organising agencies.
