Local tourism initiative

A series of presentations and visits in the area have got under way to discover the local tourism offer at first hand and to establish promotional and commercial collaboration initiatives with the Girona tourism sector.

MARCH 2014

Building on the recent creation of the Active and Nature Tourism Club, an initiative of the Patronat de Turisme that was presented at the end of December in Girona to more than eighty representatives of the area's public and private tourism sector, the organisation has begun a series of presentations in the area aimed at tourism businesses to provide a detailed explanation of the club’s technical characteristics and to explain the requirements for becoming a member.

For the round of presentations carried out in February, the Patronat de Turisme was provided with logistical support by the eight county councils of the Girona region, which contributed to organising the presentations in each county over the course of the month. The presentation and member recruitment campaign began in La Cerdanya and El Ripollès on 7th February, before moving on to El Baix Empordà on 8th February, El Gironès on 14th February, La Garrotxa on 16th February, L’Alt Empordà on 21st February, El Pla de l’Estany on 22nd February, and ending up in La Selva on 28th February. Each session brought together between 15 and 20 companies from the sector that expressed an interest in becoming involved in the project. The dissemination of the campaign and the recruitment of members are now continuing with direct visits to companies.

Since the start of the year, the Patronat de Turisme has been scheduling and carrying out visits on a continuous basis to tourism organisations, associations, guilds and companies in the area to discover the local tourism offer at first hand and to establish promotional and commercial collaborations. The Patronat de Turisme is opening up to the sector by offering promotional tools and services to improve its positioning and efficiency. At the same time, it wishes to contribute to developing and strengthening relations between tourism sector agents and to creating synergies. In the last two months more than 30 visits have been made.

Public and private organisations and tourism companies from the Girona area that are interested in discovering the services offered by the Patronat de Turisme, its 2012 action plan and its proposed collaboration paths may send an e-mail to costabrava@costabrava.org and request a visit.
