International Conference on Cycle Tourism on the Costa Brava

Four days of debate, reflections, idea swapping and cycling activities enable institutional, business and social agents to show the potential of the counties of Girona as a cycle tourism destination.

MARCH 2014

The Costa Brava Cycle Tourism Conference takes place from 1st to 4th October 2009 in the towns of Santa Cristina d’Aro, Sant Feliu de Guíxols and Platja d’Aro. It is organised by the Eca Bureau Veritas Foundation with the support of the Catalan Government, Girona Provincial Council, the Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona, the local councils of La Vall d’Aro and the Greenways Consortium of the counties of Girona, along with other bodies and associations.

The Patronat de Turisme is taking part in the Cycle Tourism Conference as a conference collaborator and sponsor. It is also contributing to the conference with a talk entitled “Types of cycle tourism and active tourism markets and products”, to be given by Josep Capellà.

This event aims to serve as a meeting point for institutional, business and social agents to focus on cycle tourism, constituting a forum for information, reflection, ideas and projects regarding this type of tourism (undergoing rapid growth and with clear potential), in which the bicycle is a substantial component, if not the main motivating factor, and which is spearheading a new leisure culture geared towards healthy activities and the respectful enjoyment of the landscape and cultural heritage of the area.

Furthermore, the conference programme includes a range of cycling activities that enable participants to discover several spots along the Costa Brava in its Centenary year.
