The Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona, together with tourism bodies and professionals from the inland counties of Girona, has organised the first Pirineu de Girona international blogtrip, taking place from 26th September to 3rd October. This marketing and communication promotional initiative, in which ten top international bloggers are involved, has the clear goal of showcasing the tourism products and services of the Pirineu de Girona destination to millions of tourists, visitors and travellers through social networks.

Top online tourism influencers and opinion leaders are taking part, such as Iain Mallory from the UK, a blogger specialising in hiking travel and photography. His website is www.malloryontravel.com There are also two bloggers from the USA: Julie Collazo, managing editor at www.matadornetwork.com, a travel community devoted to the creation and dissemination of interactive online content, and Kathryn Marie Halverson, editor of the National Geographic travel magazine, with a presence in social networks. Another noteworthy participant is Nellie Huang, a travel journalist from Singapore who blogs on her website, www.wildjunket.com, as well as contributing to Lonely Planet.

For seven days, the influencers will discover and experience the nature, culture and gastronomy of the Pirineu de Girona in an intense programme of activities that will take them to Cerdanya by light aircraft, to the Vall de Núria ski and mountain resort on horseback, and to the volcanic area of La Garrotxa and La Fageda d'en Jordà on foot, among other visits. Moreover, the travellers will sample several traditional dishes prepared by restaurants of the Pyrenean Cuisine of La Cerdanya and Volcanic Cuisine associations and will meet tourism technicians and professionals during a training day entitled “Social Media Meeting”. During the trip, the participants will get the chance to discover aspects of Catalan tradition and culture. Various activities and events have been arranged, such as sardana dancing, and a wild mushroom hunting expedition, accompanied by a well known local chef. The bloggers will be publishing and uploading articles, comments, photos and videos on their respective Internet channels.
