145 golf tour operators and journalists attend the "Costa Brava and Pirineu de Girona" presentation
From 12th to 15th November, the Patronat de Turisme, through its Golf Costa Brava Pirineu de Girona Marketing Club, took part in the world's leading professional golf fair, the International Golf Travel Market (IGTM), organised annually by the IAGTO (International Association of Golf Tour Operators), and which has been held this year in the Algarve, Portugal.
This annual event, in which the Golf Costa Brava Pirineu de Girona Marketing Club always participates, showcased to golf sector professionals from all over the world the golf offering of the Costa Brava and Pirineu de Girona destinations through a series of personalised meetings within the context of the workshop.
The following local companies were also present at the IGTM: Hotel Peralada Wine Spa & Golf, Silken Park Hotel San Jorge, PGA Catalunya Resort, Empordà Golf Resort, Club de Golf d’Aro-Mas Nou, Golf Girona, La Costa Golf & Beach Resort and the Golf Costa Brava Pirineu de Girona Marketing Club, run by the Patronat.
Before the event itself got under way, the Patronat de Turisme organised a presentation on Sunday 11th November at the Quinta do Lago resort, together with a special "Costa Brava and Pirineu de Girona" dinner prepared by the Espai del Peix gastronomic facility of Palamós fish market for 85 tour operators and ten international journalists from the golf sector. This event was attended by dignitaries from the Girona area, including the vice-president of Girona Provincial Council and of the Patronat de Turisme, Joan Giraut, and the executive director of the AGTO, Peter Walton, along with several Girona-based business people. A few days later, on 14th November, an exclusive presentation was held for 50 golf journalists from all over the world.
Over the four days of the fair, the members of the Golf Costa Brava Pirineu de Girona Marketing Club who travelled to the Algarve held meetings with the European tour operators Krone Golf Tours, Your Golf Travel, Atlantic Golf Holidays and Sophisticated Golfer, among others, in order to publicise the destination and generate business opportunities.
