“Enjoy Costa Brava Pirineu de Girona” in Sardinia

Travel agents, journalists and residents of the island of Sardinia express an interest in the tourism offer of the Girona area.

On the occasion of the Cavalcata Sarda, an important folk festival held in Sassari on the island of Sardinia from 18th to 20th May, and making the most of the scheduled flight between Alghero Airport and Girona - Costa Brava Airport, the Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona, together with the Greenways Consortium of the counties of Girona and Girona City Council, and with the support of the Catalan Tourism Promotion Centre in Milan and the Espai Llull of the Government of Catalonia in Alghero, carried out an initiative involving the promotion of the Girona destination and the showcasing of its gastronomic products. Entitled “Enjoy Costa Brava - Pirineu de Girona”, this initiative was aimed at the residents and tourists in the north of Sardinia.

The initiative consisted of placing a display area showcasing tourism and food products of the Girona area in Sassari's Piazza Castello for three days with the goal of presenting and promoting Girona's tourism services and products directly to potential end customers.

Prior to this, on 17th May, at the Azienda Agrituristica Sa Mandra, in Alghero, a special dinner was held to present the Costa Brava and Pirineu de Girona destination to dignitaries, journalists and travel agents of Sardinia, presided over by Jaume Torramadé, President of Girona Provincial Council and of the Patronat de Turisme. The dinner took the form of a gastronomic tasting prepared by Marc Gascons, chef at the Michelin-starred Els Tinars restaurant in Llagostera and member of the Joves Cuiners (Young Chefs) association. The gastronomy of the counties of Girona was showcased through the dishes of traditional Catalan cuisine and DO Empordà wines served to guests.

Jaume Torramadé, President of Girona Provincial Council and of the Patronat de Turisme, presented the destination to 35 travel agents and journalists of Sardinia. The agencies included Shardana Tours, Motus in Motus in Sardinia, AJO’ Tours, Punto Viaggi e Turismo and Sandalia Viaggi, among others. Meanwhile, the media outlets represented at the event were Rai3, La Nuova Sardegna, L’Unione Sarda, Videolina, Sardegna1, Antenna1, Alguer.it and Catalan TV.
