Costa Brava music festivals

The curtain rises on the season of music festivals for the summer nights

MARCH 2014

This summer, the counties of Girona have hosted an enormous variety of music festivals, ranging from classical music and opera to pop, rock, jazz or indie music, not to mention performances of havaneres (colonial sea shanties) and sardana concerts.

These festivals also boost the cultural fabric and economic activity of the towns in which they take place. Almost 50 music festivals are held in the area, of which some of the most noteworthy are the Castell de Peralada International Music Festival, the Torroella de Montgrí International Music Festival, the Porta Ferrada International Festival in Sant Feliu de Guíxols, the Cadaqués International Music Festival, the Cap Roig Gardens Festival, the Sant Pere de Rodes Music Festival, the Figueres Acoustic Music Festival, the (a)phònica Festival of the Voice in Banyoles, the Schubertíada in Vilabertran, the Sons del Món (Sounds of the World) Festival, the Girona Jazz Festival, the Isaac Albéniz Music Festival, the Ripoll International Music Festival, the Camprodon Valley Music Festival, and the Llívia Music Festival.

The public authorities and tourism companies in the area offer festival organisers the support and synergy that they need to organise such fun and different projects. This year the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board has collaborated in the Castell de Peralada International Music Festival and the Sons del Món (Sounds of the World) Festival.
