Costa Brava: film set

The Costa Brava is the shooting location for Tasting Menu, a film about haute cuisine and couple relationships.

MARCH 2014

The town of L'Escala and other places on the Costa Brava have been chosen as shooting locations for a new production directed by Roger Gual, winner of a Goya new director award for Smoking Room in 2002. The new film, called Tasting Menu, is being jointly produced by Zentropa International Spain, the Spanish division of the Zentropa production company founded by Danish director Lars Von Trier, and the Irish production company Subotica Entertainment.

Passeig de Mar, Portitxol beach and Hostal Empúries, all located in L'Escala, are some of the chosen shooting locations for the film, which will also be shot in Ireland and Barcelona. The plot concerns a couple, Marc and Rachel, who break up just after hearing that they have managed to get a table at one of the world's top restaurants. However, their estrangement does not prevent them from honouring the reservation and what had promised to be a perfect evening for savouring the most exquisite dishes turns into an unforgettable experience for other reasons for both the couple and their fellow diners.

The film enjoys the support of the Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona, which is keen to promote the Costa Brava through cinema.
