MARCH 2014

The Patronat de Turisme shows its commitment to innovation in the promotion and dissemination of the Costa Brava and Pirineu de Girona brands and tourism offer in social networks by organising two new international blogtrips in May.

The first blogtrip, on a nature and culture theme, was organised by the Patronat de Turisme from 14th to 18th May in the Girona area. A small group of noteworthy and influential international travel bloggers generated content of interest in the social networks in which they operate. In just five days of activity 1,790 tweets were published, reaching 551,517 people, through 11,407,516 impressions in total (according to reports by TweetReach).

Leading online tourism influencers and opinion leaders took part in the trip, such as Kim Mance from the USA, blogger and founder of TBEXevents, Janice Waugh from Canada, manager of the Solo Traveler website, and Melvin Boecher from Germany, who boasts more than 76,000 followers on Twitter (@Traveldudes) and manages the Traveldudes website. Also present was Keith Jenkins from Holland, who publishes content on his Velvet Escape luxury travel blog and who has more than 12,000 followers on Twitter.

From 28th May to 1st June the second theme-based blogtrip of the year took place, this one designed to showcase Girona's excellent cuisine and the area's food and wine products to a group of ten influential specialised bloggers, including influencers and opinion leaders such as Ryan King from the UK, who runs the FineDiningLovers gastronomy website, and Rachelle Lucas, from the USA, who has 40,000 followers on Twitter and runs TheTravelBite, a food and travel website. Also present was Michael Hodson from the USA, who writes on his GoSeeWrite blog.

The chefs Ferran Adrià and Joan participated actively in this experience-filled trip of discovery, while Toni Sáez, chef at El Far restaurant in Sant Sebastià, held two workshops, one on tomato-rubbed bread and the other on aioli. Furthermore, several DO Empordà wine and cava cellars organised tastings, while food and wine activities were held in original local venues.

The blogtrips could be followed at the  @costabrava and @visitcostabrava profiles, and using the #InCostaBrava hashtag.
