Agreement with Renfe

Collaboration agreement to promote Renfe's rail transport services and the Girona area in Spain.

MARCH 2014

One notable development that took place in Fitur 2013, marking the launch of the Madrid-Barcelona-Girona-Figueres high-speed rail link, was the collaboration agreement signed on 31st January by the Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona and Renfe to jointly promote Renfe's rail transport services and the Girona area, in particular as a business and conference tourism destination within the Catalan and Spanish market.

The agreement consists of the possibility of discounts on Renfe train tickets for people travelling to the Girona area for business and conference tourism, the organisation of familiarisation trips for travel agents and journalists, and co-marketing initiatives. Furthermore, the two organisations will jointly boost their online presence and include links to each other's websites.

The signing ceremony was attended by Julio Gómez-Pomar Rodríguez, President of Renfe (representing Renfe) and Ramon Ramos, Director of the Patronat (representing the Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava).

This agreement with Renfe is one of the first initiatives to be carried out by the Girona Convention Bureau, integrated within the Patronat de Turisme since January, in order to boost and reposition business and conference tourism in the Girona area within the Spanish market.
